Professor Jenny Mindell and Dr Ilan Kelman have both won UCL Global Engagement Fund awards to travel to Cuba in early 2019, to explore possibilities for research collaboration, on Transport and Health, and Disaster Risk Reduction, respectively.
UCL won three 2018/19 small grants from the British Embassy in Havana to develop programmes in partnership with Havana University:
- Workshop on Climate Change finance for adaptation in Agriculture.
- Workshop on Climate change finance for mitigation in energy and transport.
- Capacity-building for Havana University’s InCuba Innovation lab.
The two climate change finance workshops were held from November 30th-December 4th, as pre-events for Havana University’s Jornada del Caribe. Capacity-building for InCuba included a visit to the UK by two members of the InCuba team in November 2018, followed by a workshop in Havana and a visit to the UK by one of InCuba’s successful innovators in early 2019.
